The notion that the GraphQL schema is an abstraction layer makes tools like GraphQL Mesh less attractive to me. The schema acts as an abstraction layer over your domain’s microservices, making it easier to refactor and optimize your underlying services while not changing the API that other teams and end-user apps rely on. They also own an GraphQL service that exposes the “public API” (not public to the world, just public to the rest of the company) as a GraphQL schema. The ideal architecture, to me, is that a team/org within your company owns several microservices for different aspects of their domain and uses gRPC to communicate between them.

Turn Any Amp Into a Boutique Tone Machine: By hooking the SYN-1 to your amp's series effects loop with a straightforward 3-cable method, you're able to footswitch between the two channels on your Synergy preamp module and your amp's built in channel(s).
You can switch tabs or use another desktop application, and the alarm will still function. However, the tab doesn't need to be active for the set alarm to sound. No, the computer alarm clock does not work if you close the browser tab. Will the Online Alarm Clock Work If I Close the Tab? The site uses your computer's volume to sound the alarm, so you can increase or decrease its volume using your computer's sound volume functions. Yes, this online alarm clock is loud and can be heard even if your computer's volume is low. Unfortunately, YouTube Music or Spotify links cannot be used for alarms. You can pick from several types of loud alarms, like a buzzer, bell, or white noise. No, the online alarm clock only has a limited selection of pre-selected sounds. You can use those default settings or change them. The alarm clock also remembers your latest settings, like the specified time or alarm label. To set multiple alarms, open another tab and repeat the steps. Click Export to CSV to download the data or Clear Data to reset or forget the information. You can snooze the alarm for 10 minutes by clicking the Snooze button.įinally, you can also view alarms you've previously set under Alarm Clock Data. Once the countdown hits zero, the alarm will sound. You can end the alarm early by clicking Stop. Once set, a live countdown will appear on-screen.
These anchors come in three basic types: sleeve, toggle, and expansion. In terms of static mechanical loads, glueing it to the shelf would be recommended to help reduce the moment load. This page contains pictures, descriptions, and load ratings for the most commonly available wall anchors for drywall, plaster, and masonry, including solid and hollow walls and ceilings. This would reduce the gypsum or plaster compression and reduce the moment load. If your sense of aesthetics and DIY skills allow, you could additionally support the back of the shelf with a strip of wood, perhaps 1/2in to 3/4in thick, as wide as the shelf but in height about 2x or 3x the thickness of the shelf, with the top of the strip aligned with the top of the shelf (and the rest thus below the shelf). So the compression strength of your plaster will matter too. The more you load the shelf the more the plaster will be compressed at the bottom of the shelf. If the shelf comes with its own custom screws, you could use expanding drywall anchors. This would depend on the type and thickness of wood used for the lath. If you hit lath, the toggle may not be necessary, and a simple screw might be fine. Toggle bolts are designed to withstand such pull out force. To mount such a shelf on lath & plaster you need to make sure that the shelf is thick enough and that the screws can withstand pull out from relatively brittle boards or underlying lath. Fastening to a stud would be highly recommended to permit loading with anything more than the shelf itself and some light nick-nacks. If you have an L bracket (or shelf strip), the top screw of each bracket is loaded by pulling, and the bottom screws are loaded by a combination of press force and downward moment (a.k.a downward torque or moment force).Ī floating shelf, that is without an L bracket but with cleats or rods, places a high moment load and pull force on the fastener, somewhat abetted by the thickness of the shelf. Screws for shelves are loaded differently depending on the mechanical arrangement of the bracketing. (No, no predrilling, no anchors, no nothing, just screws.) One column's worth might have hit a stud, but since this house was built in the 1890s and has very hard studs, I don't think so - I don't have any recollection of having to work the drill too hard to drive them in. Some, I'm sure went into plaster only, others went through the plaster into lathe. I used drywall screws through the round screw holes directly into whatever they happened to hit behind. I used stanchions like this (I guess maybe they're called "standards" or "uprights" - at least that's the term that came up at my local big-box):Ĭlick to embiggen. When I went to install it, I attempted to find studs, but a normal stud finder won't work through plaster & lath, so I just put up the stanchions and hoped for the best. It was heavily loaded with books and papers for nearly all that time and never gave the slightest hint that it was going to fall. *I created an 8' tall x 8' long section of shelving supported by stanchions and shelf-support brackets that hung on a P&L wall for nearly 30 years. Then drive the rest of the screws to line up with the mounting holes in the shelf and hang it. If this is correct, and since you do know where studs are, I would put two screws into the two 13.75" spaced studs and center the shelves on those studs. You also happen to have 2 studs spaced 13.75" while the rest are standard 16" spacing. If I understand correctly, you have 3 or more holes on your floating shelf, all spaced at 13.75". Personally, I would be comfortable simply driving the the screws into the wall and hanging the shelf directly off the plaster & lath. In my experience, I've found P&L to be very strong and capable of supporting considerable weight, whether screws have gone into studs or not *. You indicate (in a comment) that you have plaster and lath walls. Hence this firewall doesn't allow unauthorized sessions from any outer party.Ī passive mode is used when a user faces any issue, so a user must establish a command and data channel. Active mode distribution may face issues when a firewall protects a user's system. This session is called an active connection mode, where users request changes and the server grant access. On the other side, data channels work as a platform for data distribution.Īn authorized user can use a protocol to request changes on the server for transferring files, and the server will allow access to this transfer procedure. Command channels work to initiate specific responses and instructions. In establishing an FTP connection, two communication channels are needed: command channels and data channels. A user requires permission to provide credentials to an FTP server, but some public FTP servers don't need any credentials for accessing the files. There are different types of FTP servers and FTP clients, so here is the list of the most used server and clients:Īt the initial stage, an FTP connection requires two parties to establish and communicate on a specific network. Please note that using an FTP browser offers minimal functionality and has a much greater security risk than an FTP client. Once directed to an FTP server, you will have to log in, and you will be able to browse the server and download the files. Browser FTPĮven though we highly recommend the use of an FTP client, sometimes a web browser might suffice. You must transfer CGI scripts through ASCII otherwise, they will not work. There is one small exception to the rule mentioned above. However, if a binary file is transferred through ASCII, it will be corrupted. They do so because users can transfer ASCII and binary files through the binary method. Most clients will run in binary by default, using ASCII only when required. Nowadays, with an enormous variety of FTP clients available, almost any one of them will automatically detect the transfer mode based on your chosen files. These include images, applications, algorithmically generated packages such as. On the other hand, we have binary files with different structures that require different transfer types. txt, PostScript files, etc.) is an ASCII file. ASCII (i.e., American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a 7-bit character set that contains 128 characters. There are two different forms that file transfers use over FTP: ASCII and binary. You do not need an existing account to access the FTP server. This does not mean that you are 100% anonymous, but that you use "anonymous" as the username and, in most cases, your email address as the password. Most public servers allow you to log in and download files via FTP by connecting anonymously. There is also a possibility to anonymously access FTP servers, which we will elaborate on in the following paragraphs. By default FTP protocol is handled by ports number 20 and 21. To log into an FTP server, you must enter a username, password, and FTP port number. For example, here is a good article about how to install FTP Server on Ubuntu Server. It is possible to transfer any file with FTP in some cases, it is even faster than HTTP. Some browsers also allow you to download files using the protocol. If that is not your cup of tea, you can also use one of many FTP clients available online, some even for free. Users can use FTP through a command-line interface such as DOS in Windows and Terminal in Linux & macOS. It is an acronym of File Transfer Protocol, a standard network protocol used to transfer computer files between a client and a server across a computer network. We have divided the guide into two parts, so the first has all of the necessary details about what is FTP, what it is used for, and how it works. This guide has all the required information to understand FTP and its usage. Nevertheless, countless GUI FTP clients have been designed for desktops, servers, and mobile devices. Since the FTP specification was written in 1971, the first FTP clients were completely command-line programs, as they were developed before operating systems adopted GUIs. It is even older than TCP/IP protocol, and over the 40+ years of its existence, it has been modified to fit the new standards in the industry. List of content you will read in this article:įile Transfer Protocol (i.e., FTP) has been around for much longer than HTTP (i.e., Hypertext Transfer Protocol), which you are using right now to connect to the Internet. Non-intersecting / parallel lines Lines through a given point P and asymptotic to line R. These properties are all independent of the model used, even if the lines may look radically different. For example, given two intersecting lines there are infinitely many lines that do not intersect either of the given lines. When a third line is introduced, then there can be properties of intersecting lines that differ from intersecting lines in Euclidean geometry. For example, two distinct lines can intersect in no more than one point, intersecting lines form equal opposite angles, and adjacent angles of intersecting lines are supplementary. Two intersecting lines have the same properties as two intersecting lines in Euclidean geometry. For example, two points uniquely define a line, and line segments can be infinitely extended. Single lines in hyperbolic geometry have exactly the same properties as single straight lines in Euclidean geometry. This difference also has many consequences: concepts that are equivalent in Euclidean geometry are not equivalent in hyperbolic geometry new concepts need to be introduced.įurther, because of the angle of parallelism, hyperbolic geometry has an absolute scale, a relation between distance and angle measurements. Propositions 27 and 28 of Book One of Euclid's Elements prove the existence of parallel/non-intersecting lines. There are two kinds of absolute geometry, Euclidean and hyperbolic.Īll theorems of absolute geometry, including the first 28 propositions of book one of Euclid's Elements, are valid in Euclidean and hyperbolic geometry. When the parallel postulate is removed from Euclidean geometry the resulting geometry is absolute geometry. Hyperbolic geometry is more closely related to Euclidean geometry than it seems: the only axiomatic difference is the parallel postulate. Properties Relation to Euclidean geometry Comparison of elliptic, Euclidean and hyperbolic geometries in two dimensions See hyperbolic space for more information on hyperbolic geometry extended to three and more dimensions. This page is mainly about the 2-dimensional (planar) hyperbolic geometry and the differences and similarities between Euclidean and hyperbolic geometry. In the former Soviet Union, it is commonly called Lobachevskian geometry, named after one of its discoverers, the Russian geometer Nikolai Lobachevsky. When geometers first realised they were working with something other than the standard Euclidean geometry, they described their geometry under many different names Felix Klein finally gave the subject the name hyperbolic geometry to include it in the now rarely used sequence elliptic geometry ( spherical geometry), parabolic geometry ( Euclidean geometry), and hyperbolic geometry. Saddle surfaces have negative Gaussian curvature in at least some regions, where they locally resemble the hyperbolic plane.Ī modern use of hyperbolic geometry is in the theory of special relativity, particularly the Minkowski model. Hyperbolic plane geometry is also the geometry of pseudospherical surfaces, surfaces with a constant negative Gaussian curvature. The hyperbolic plane is a plane where every point is a saddle point. (Compare the above with Playfair's axiom, the modern version of Euclid's parallel postulate.) The parallel postulate of Euclidean geometry is replaced with:įor any given line R and point P not on R, in the plane containing both line R and point P there are at least two distinct lines through P that do not intersect R. In mathematics, hyperbolic geometry (also called Lobachevskian geometry or Bolyai– Lobachevskian geometry) is a non-Euclidean geometry. A triangle immersed in a saddle-shape plane (a hyperbolic paraboloid), along with two diverging ultra-parallel lines Rebounding from the pandemic, while avoiding the lethality and economic costs of repeated waves of infection, requires vaccine development and distribution ( Graham, 2020). Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has infected more than 250 million people worldwide, with its resulting Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) taking more than five million individuals and counting (as of November 12th, 2021 Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, 2021). COVID-19 vaccination development and distribution These findings thus represent preliminary evidence that naturally circulating memes may-under certain circumstances-influence public intentions to vaccinate, although more research regarding this context-specificity, as well as the potential psychological mechanisms through which memes act, is needed.ġ.1. These intention-boosting effects, however, weakened once a COVID-19 vaccine became a reality (i.e., after the announcement of a safe/effective vaccine), suggesting meme-based persuasion may be context-dependent. Across two sets of online studies (total n = 1584) conducted in the UK before (August–October 2020) and immediately after the first effective vaccine was publicly announced (November 10–19, 2020), brief exposure (<1 min) to vaccination memes boosted the potentially life-saving intention to vaccinate against COVID-19. Countering such vaccine hesitancy is thus an important priority. Despite global efforts to rapidly distribute COVID-19 vaccines, early estimates suggested that 29–35% of the population were hesitant/unwilling to receive them.
In the end, there's so much content that you can keep building for hours and still have lots of work to do. The average gamer will find these puzzles to be far too frustrating but they are fantastic challenges for bridge-building experts. These are extremely challenging as they involve you building slanted bridges between high and low ledges. Once you're satisfied with all forty of your solutions, there are also three bonus islands known as SlopeMania. You can aim to get higher scores by building more efficient structures and also use bigger vehicles in your test runs to show off how strong your designs are. Working through all of these will take a rather long time and mastering them adds even more replay value. The simplest solution is often the best solutionīridge Constructor's campaign consists of five main areas with eight stages in each. Overall, it has decent graphics although they can be cheesy at times. The background grids that help guide where you place the endpoints of your materials are very useful and are understated as to not get in the way of the gameplay. However, the stage backdrops range from cityscapes to deserts and snowy mountains to grassy plains which actually provides a great deal of visual variety. The interface is composed of big icons, minimal text, and cartoonish features that ooze tackiness. Unfortunately, Bridge Constructor appears to be not much more appealing than an average mobile game when it comes to its presentation. The puzzles get incredibly tough yet the simple and addictive nature of the gameplay makes working through each stage a very rewarding endeavor. Watching it inevitably fall apart is heart-breaking but that makes trying to come up with a better solution all the more satisfying. Once you feel like you've made a suitable bridge, you can initiate a test run to see if your creation will hold up. The different materials may cost more or less so figuring out how to use your budget wisely is a big part of the challenge. The stages differ by providing different-sized gaps, specific anchor points where you can attach materials, varying arrays of materials, and certain budget amounts. Doing so involves placing various materials such as wood, steel, concrete, and cable. □ This bridge is as functional as it is cool-lookingīridge Constructor presents you with a series of stages that feature large gaps where you must build bridges in order to allow vehicles to pass through. has been obsessively gaming since the late '80s and is just as passionate about video games in 2023. Okay, that may not be true but Bridge Constructor offers many unique physics-based construction puzzles that'll keep you hooked until every vehicle finds its way home. There's nothing more exciting than building a good solid bridge. Watch out for your fellow engineers though, at any time they might play an event card on you, unleashing devastating damage to your perfectly planned bridge!īridge Constructor: Breaking Point will launch on Kickstarter this September, with retail and additional distribution plans already in the works. Choose from Super Light, Light, Medium, or Heavy vehicles that each have their unique points and challenges. Each round you have the choice to pick a bridge tile and either continue to strengthen or rebuild your bridge or cross your vehicles. The gameplay is half puzzle and half press your luck. Suitable for ages 10 and up with 2 - 4 players, the heart of the tabletop game remains true to the original’s concept: engineer the best bridge you can with limited supplies and cross vehicles successfully. We have partnered with Maestro Media (The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls, Tapeworm), game designer Jeb Havens (Critical Role’s Uk’otoa, Z-Man Games' Burrows) and illustrator Charlie Hill (Coca-Cola, A&E Network) to offer you Bridge Constructor: Breaking Point - an easy-to-learn and difficult to master game of tile placement, card management, and pushing your luck. We have a very special announcement for you today that you would certainly not have expected from the Bridge Constructor series: A decade after the initial launch Bridge Constructor is finally receiving its tabletop adaptation with Bridge Constructor: Breaking Point! ːsteamhappyː Upon purchase, you will be provided with an accessĬode and a link to Hal Leonard's MyLibrary site, where you can view your digitalīook along with supplemental audio or video where applicable.
